The owner and franchisee of 25 McDonald’s restaurants in the Midwest has bigger issues to worry about than overcooked hamburgers.

Missoula Mac, Inc., will pay $1 million in compensatory damages to 10 female employees to settle a class sexual harassment lawsuit.

The women claimed that the company allowed men to subject them to a hostile work environment and retaliated against the women for complaining.

Specifically, the lawsuit reported that the women endured inappropriate comments, kissing, touching of their private parts and the forcing of them to touch men’s private parts.

In addition to the $1 million payout, Missoula Mac, Inc., must:

  • develop a phone line and an email line for employees to address harassment concerns
  • create a position responsible for monitoring and resolving claims of harassment or retaliation
  • evaluate managers’ performance based in part on whether their restaurants comply with anti-retaliation and anti-harassment laws
  • track and maintain records of all complaints of retaliation and sexual harassment
  • start a training program that will help staff members identify sexual harassment
  • post notices informing workers that it has settled a sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit and publicizing the settlement terms, and
  • provide reports to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission showing it is in compliance.
