There are plenty of options for those seeking Dallas sales jobs (Click here) and other positions this holiday season.

The holiday season is a great time to find work, whether you’re out of a job or just looking for some extra cash. There will be many jobs available in the Dallas area as various companies amp up for increased consumer spending.

Another plus for the Dallas area – Arlington is hosting Super Bowl XLV on February 6th, which will make room for lots of job openings right after the holiday season ends.

Here’s a look at some of the companies planning to hire for the holidays and the Super Bowl, as compiled by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram:

  • Kohl’s – The department store is planning to hire more than 40,000 employees this holiday season, which is a 20 percent increase from the number of seasonal workers hired during 2009. Kohl’s will hire an average of 35 employees per store, 2,200 employees in distribution centers, and 60 employees in credit. These employees will work up to 20 hours per week.
  • Toys “R” Us – The popular toy store is planning to open hundreds of Holiday Express stores and will significantly increase seasonal hiring as a result. A total of 45,000 seasonal employees will be hired in management, sales, stocking, and distribution at normal and express stores, which is an increase from the 35,000 workers hired last year.
  • Macy’s – The department store is planning to slightly increase its holiday hiring efforts this year as it gears up for higher sales. Macy’s will bring on 65,000 seasonal employees at stores, call centers, distribution centers, and online fulfillment centers.
  • GameStop – The popular video game retailer will hire about 21,000 seasonal employees this year, which is the same number the company has hired the last two years.
  • UPS – The package delivery company is planning to hire 50,000 temporary workers this holiday season, which is the same number of employees UPS hired last year.
  • Six Flags Over Texas – The amusement park is still looking to hire 100 or more workers for its yearly Fright Fest celebration. The positions are in food service, ride operations, games, and elsewhere throughout the park. The park also plans to hire another 100 to 150 workers for private events in the park. Six Flags pays a minimum of $7.50 per hour for TABC-certified employees.
  • S.A.F.E. Management – This company, which is the primary security contractor for the Super Bowl, is planning to hire 700 security guards for the big game and related events and 200 game-day ushers, ticket takers and greeters. The company also is working with up to 10 subcontractors who will hire additional security guards.
