Thousands of Dallas hospitality jobs have been added over the last few years.

A recent On Numbers study from The Business Journals found that one-third of the nation’s largest markets have more leisure and hospitality jobs than they did before the economic recession began.

The study includes the 100 largest cities in the nation and is based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics on the leisure and hospitality industry, which includes hotels, motels, restaurants, bars, casinos, museums, performing arts companies, and professional sports teams.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area was ranked 13th in the nation with 287,800 leisure and hospitality jobs, an increase of 2,000 jobs from April 2008. The industry currently accounts for 11.4 percent of the area’s private sector employment.
