One organization’s services continue to support thousands of San Diego manufacturing jobs.

A recent study found that the services provided by California Manufacturing Technology Consulting has a significant impact on jobs. The organization helped to create or retain 2,600 jobs during 2010, with each of those positions supporting an additional four to seven indirect jobs.

CMTC, which serves the area from Fresno to San Diego, provides consulting services to manufacturers that want to expand and become more competitive. By focusing on technical, production, and sales growth, the organization helps companies bring products to customers quicker and adapt innovate practices that create jobs.

“The manufacturing sector is important to the U.S. economy and to California,” David Braunstein, president and CEO of CMTC, said in a statement. “Manufacturers are clearly embracing new production and growth strategies to improve their sales and bottom line which will lead to new jobs.”

The organization’s impact is being felt throughout the local Southern California community. A couple great examples are Omega Precision, a small machine shop that makes aerospace industry parts, which was able to retain all of its current workforce, and Miles Chemical, which was able to obtain a new contract and hire three new employees with CMTC’s help.

CMTC is a private nonprofit corporation that was founded in 1992. The organization operates as part of the federal Manufacturing Extension Partnership, a network of more than 60 organizations throughout the nation that provide assistance to manufacturing companies.
